Val Vinokurov is a writer, translator, and professor at the Eugene Lang College, The New School. His translation (with Rose Réjouis) of Patrick Chamoiseau's "Texaco" won the American Translator Association's Prize for Best Book in 1998. His stories, poems, and essays have appeared in a wide variety of publications -- including an essay and translation in the current issue of McSweeney's.
